For three months, artists have been working on two patriotic murals that appeared on the walls of the Chervonohrad Military Lyceum of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy.
On 12 July, the Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Lviv Regional State Administration presented these murals as the first steps in the implementation of the StreetArt Chervonohrad: Art Transforming the City project. According to Taras Lozynskyi, head of the department, the idea of the project is to change the city through murals, making it more attractive to tourists by changing its positioning from the industrial “heart of Lviv region” to the art capital.
“We have already developed the themes of the first three routes. The first one is about international partners and countries that help our country resist the enemy, and the second one is about the most memorable events that accompanied our soldiers and people on their way to preserving our country and independence. In addition, this region is rich in craftsmen whose crafts create the artistic face of our region, preserving and promoting cultural heritage: pottery, Easter eggs, carving – this is another idea for the route,” said Taras Lozynskyi.
Thus, as part of the project, the first two murals were painted on the walls of the Chervonohrad Military Lyceum of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy. The murals, titled “They Stood Up So We Could Win,” depict prominent figures who fought for our identity – Yevhen Konovalets, Petro Sahaidachnyi, and Lev Danylovych. The second mural depicts the Academy’s servicemen who continue to fight, said Dmytro Buchko, Deputy Head of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi Army Academy for Moral and Psychological Support, during a briefing.
“These are Vitaliy Gabitskyi, who is serving in one of the military brigades and has been awarded state awards, and Yelyzaveta Kozak, a girl who is in her 3rd year of study, whose parents are serving and performing combat missions. These images should inspire young lyceum students to become officers and the best cadets, to look up to their famous predecessors and the best of their contemporaries.”
