Yesterday, plastuns from Lviv and regional centers met to start the annual history of active plastun activities for Ukrainian youth and summarize the victories over the past six months.
The opening of the Plast year is an annual Plast event that takes place to sum up the camp summer (the most active time for Plasts), celebrate volunteers and meet Plast friends. This year’s opening convinced us that there are no obstacles to Plast youth even in wartime, because the first goal of Plast is to educate capable and conscious youth in the spirit of adventure and values of Plast, which is more relevant than ever for society.
To hold the event, the Lviv Plasts united with the members of the Plast of the Lviv District (individual Plast centers in the region – Stryi, Staryy Sambir, Drohobych, Sokal, Chervonograd, Busk, Zolochiv and others). In total, the event brought together young people from 28 reservoirs and gathered 1,365 participants.
The organizers have prepared separate elements of the program for all age categories (authorities) of plastuns – chicks, novices, youth and adult volunteers. The entertaining format was combined with the obligatory official part of singing the hymn and prayer, celebrating the achievements of the Plastuns in Plast and outside it, and thanking the volunteers.
In particular, in the premises of the Lviv Coffee Mine, together with representatives of the Lviv City Council and the Lviv Military State Administration, a ceremony was held to honor Plastun volunteers from Lviv and the region, who joined the creation of the Plast Staff in Lviv and took an active part in providing humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian military and civilians from the beginning a full-scale invasion of Russia.
“For Plastunians, the opening of the Plastovy year is the summation of all summer adventures. And there are always a lot of them: camps, trips, bonfires and many other interesting things. For the administrative apparatus of Plast, this is the start of new challenges. Already from this week, the children will start their regular Plast lessons and I wish all Plastuns to be strong, beautiful, careful and quick,” commented Yaroslav Bulyshyn, head of the Lviv branch of Plast.
