Attempts to illegally import a car under the guise of humanitarian aid were prevented at the Rava-Ruska checkpoint on the initiative of operatives of the Lviv detachment
The Volkswagen passenger car was driven to Ukraine by our 46-year-old compatriot. To pass control, a native of Kyiv region chose the “red corridor” traffic lane and declared the car according to the established procedure.
According to the documents submitted for verification, it was established that the car was being moved as humanitarian aid for one of the military units.
During the additional inspection, the border guards together with the customs officers found that the recipient does not expect such “humanitarian aid”.
Based on this fact, a report on violation of customs rules was drawn up. The car was removed according to the established order. Its estimated cost is 320,000 hryvnias.
In another case, during the control, border guards found an SUV that was wanted. A 28-year-old Polish citizen was driving a car to enter Ukraine.
During the border control, the database was triggered. As the border guards found out, the vehicle with Polish registration was stolen in Belgium in February 2016.
Based on this fact, the border guards immediately informed the Ukrburo of Interpol in Kyiv and received confirmation of the information about the car. In the end, the vehicle was handed over to the National Police.
