A large number of wolves have been recorded in the forests of the Boykivshchyna National Nature Park, located in the Sambir District of the Lviv Region, both individually and in packs.
The workers of the nature park note that due to the lack of food, the syromanskies can descend closer to human settlements.
“Most cases of wolf attacks on humans are the result of their rabies disease, which they can pick up from infected foxes,” the NPP said in a statement.
The conservationists also reported several interesting facts about the wolf:
Wolves can smell at a distance of one and a half kilometers. These animals have the ability to distinguish 200 million smells (humans distinguish only 50 million). That is why wolves are excellent hunters.
A wolf can run at a speed of 65 km per hour and jump to a height of 5 meters, and its mental abilities are better than that of a dog.
The largest wolf pack can consist of 40 individuals.
One hungry wolf can eat 10 kg of meat at a time.
We should add that wolves hunt mainly ungulates, but can also feast on hares, wild rabbits and mouse-like rodents. These predators are active mainly at night, but sometimes they can be found during the day. Animals can also attack domestic animals, dogs and even people.
