Fishing in the Sheptytskyi District: Area Boundaries and Prohibitions During the 2025 Spawning Season

Fishing in the Sheptytskyi District During the Spawning Season: Permitted Areas and Restrictions

We remind you that as of April 1, 2025, the annual spring-summer spawning ban on the capture of aquatic bioresources is in effect on the majority of fishery water bodies in Ukraine. Fishing during this period is only allowed from the shore outside of spawning grounds with hook gear not exceeding two hooks per fisherman or spinning with one artificial lure.

Area Boundaries for Recreational Fishing in the Sheptytskyi District in 2025

To create favorable conditions for spawning during this time, the movement of all vehicles and motor boats on water bodies is prohibited (except for established ship routes). This does not apply to vessels used by the fish protection authorities and other authorized government authorities. Industrial fishing and underwater hunting are also prohibited. Violations of the stated requirements may lead to penalties ranging from administrative fines to criminal liability, as well as compensation for damages caused to the fishing industry. Therefore, we caution fishermen against committing violations, especially considering the fact that during the spawning period, fish inspectors from the State Fisheries Agency conduct increased monitoring of water bodies.
