On 15 September, rescuers received a report that a man born in 1940 had disappeared in the village of Pidhorodtsi, Stryi district. In the morning, he went to the forest to pick mushrooms and did not return. It was not possible to contact him because he did not have a phone with him.
Rescuers, local residents and law enforcement officers were immediately involved in the search, which included a search of the forest area. For efficiency and effectiveness, the rescuers used an unmanned aerial vehicle.
The mountain rescuers used the UAV to find a man lying on the ground in the forest and immediately went to him.
At 10:58 a.m. on 16 September, they managed to find the man near the village of Pidhorodtsi.
Fortunately, the lost mushroom picker was found alive. However, he needed medical attention because he had spent the night in the forest. The victim was immediately taken to hospital.
