Volodymyr Zelenskyi commemorated fallen Ukrainian soldiers in Lviv

Today, January 11, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is on a working visit to Lviv Oblast.

The head of state, together with the leaders of the region and the city, honored the memory of the fallen heroes of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

The video of the ceremony was published on the official Telegram channel of the President of Ukraine.

“I started my visit to Lviv with the most important thing – honoring the memory of Ukrainian soldiers. Glory to all those who gave their lives for our freedom and independence of our state! Glory to Ukraine!” the message reads.

Wreaths and flowers were placed at the graves of fallen Ukrainian soldiers on the Field of Mars of the Lychakiv cemetery.

“Eternal memory and eternal glory to Heroes. We will never forget their contribution to Ukraine being free. We will make the enemy answer for every lost life of our compatriots,” said the head of Lviv OVA Maksym Kozytskyi.

Lychakiv military cemetery is the territory of military burials.

On this field there is a Memorial to the memory of UPA heroes and buried UPA soldiers, a cross in memory of Ukrainian Sich riflemen, three small stone crosses, under which there are crypts-tombs, where the victims of Bolshevik terror, tortured in Zamarstinivska in ‘the prison, the alley where the soldiers who died during the Second World War are buried.

Soldiers of the Russian-Ukrainian war have been buried in the central part of the Lychakiv military cemetery since April of this year. Currently, 239 Heroes are buried in the Field of Honored Burials No. 86a.
