Almost 3,000 drivers fined for improper parking in Lviv: these funds are used to transport forcibly displaced Ukrainians and soldiers

According to Oleh Zabarylo, director of the Department of Urban Mobility and Infrastructure of the Lviv City Council, 82 cars parked in violation of traffic rules were evacuated to the arrest site in Lviv on March 1-16. To return his car, the owner must pay 720 UAH for the services of a tow truck, another 140 UAH is one day of car storage on site. In addition, a significant number of chaotically parked vehicles that obstructed traffic were moved to designated areas.

According to him, parking inspectors patrol the central part of the city, as well as Horodotska and Chernivetska streets around the clock. From the beginning of the war, they worked in the mode of informing drivers – leaving informational messages with a request to park the car in a designated location. However, due to the significant complication of traffic, inspectors have recently been actively fining violating drivers.

Thus, since the beginning of March, parking inspectors have fined 2,979 drivers totaling UAH 1,428,000. These funds, in particular, are directed for the transportation of forcibly displaced Ukrainians and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The minimum fine is UAH 340. But depending on the specifics of the offense, it can increase to 680 UAH. If the offending driver does not pay the fine within 10 days, the amount is doubled.

Also, parking inspectors continue to conduct educational work among drivers. In total, since the beginning of March, they have issued more than 10,000 warnings.

It will be recalled that most violations are recorded in the area of the railway station, in the central part of the city and in other locations, where parked cars make traffic difficult.

“The number of cars in Lviv has increased significantly. We are talking about tens of thousands of cars with registration in different regions of Ukraine. Our streets have not become wider, the load on the transport network is increasing. We see that there are difficulties in movement. And today complications in movement are critical, because it is necessary to ensure the passage of ambulances, special vehicles, humanitarian convoys. Therefore, it is very important that drivers, in particular in the central part of the city and near the station, do not park their cars in violation of traffic rules, “said Oleg Zabarylo.

He added that the mayor’s office, together with the police, is working out a mechanism to unload the city so that it is passable, mobile, as well as to ensure high-quality and fast transportation of public transport, special vehicles and humanitarian convoys.

It should be noted that today in the city paid parking spaces are underloaded, so drivers have the opportunity to fully park without violating traffic rules.

The list of parking lots is on the Lviv Geoportal.
