This year, it unites representatives of the Ukrainian and international architectural community primarily around the topics of post-war reconstruction and preservation of the architectural heritage of Ukraine
Thus, during the event, the chief architect of the Lviv Oblast, Olena Vasylko, spoke about the activities of the regional department of architecture and urban development during the full-scale war. She familiarized the public with the state of affairs with urban planning documentation, spatial planning, formation of authorized urban planning and architecture bodies, planning of individual industrial districts and agglomerations; provision of housing for displaced persons, relocation of enterprises, construction of new socially important facilities in the rehabilitation network; removal from the state register of objects that mark space with Soviet symbols; measures implemented in the field of protection and preservation of cultural heritage monuments; told about the mission of a team of Lviv architects to inspect damaged buildings due to the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP in Kherson. She also emphasized the importance of creating a barrier-free space.
“Our boys, warriors, return from war, often with serious injuries. They undergo rehabilitation, the prosthetics process, but this does not happen immediately. And in order to help them socialize, not to feel superfluous, so that they have the opportunity to work and live fully, we, as architects, have to design spaces without barriers. And this applies not only to residential quarters, but to all objects of social infrastructure and places of employment,” says Olena Vasylko.
Numerous lectures, discussions, workshops, presentations, plein airs, festival excursions will last for three days. They will take place at the following locations: in the Powder Tower, the Svirsky Castle, the sports and entertainment center “Leoland” (formerly the Palace of Sports “Ukraine”).
