The documentary film about Ukrainian artists in wartime, which was filmed in Lviv in the spring of 2022, received a special award at the prestigious international film festival – Tribeca Festival.
The full-length documentary “Rule of Two Walls” is a film that tells the stories of artists who, at the beginning of the full-scale war, created in Lviv to represent Ukraine in the world as it was at that time. The Lviv Municipal Art Center led by its director Liana Mytsko became the center of meeting of these people.
“The film shows life in Lviv at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The film shows the activities of artists, artists, and musicians who came to our city. Also, our municipal art center appears a lot in the film, because many meetings and acquaintances of the artistic environment take place on its basis,” says the director of the center.
In addition to Liana, the film starred: Stepan Burban (Palindrome), Bohdana Davidyuk (artist and illustrator), Serhiy Petrov (artist Bob Basset), Kinder Album (artist from Lviv) and Diana Berg (author of the “Shelter” project, activist from Mariupol) .
David Gutnik, an American of Ukrainian origin, became the director of the project. The executive producers of “Rules of Two Walls” were Liev Schreiber (actor in “Rhea Donovan” and “Wolverine”), Olga Beshmelnytsina and Natalia Libet (“Parthenon”, “Stop Earth”) and others.
The Ukrainian team attended the premiere of the film at the Tribeca Festival in New York, where they once again emphasized the fact that Russia is a terrorist state, also talked about the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP and once again reminded of the power of Ukrainian culture.
“The Tribeca Festival, which was once founded by Robert De Niro, is quite similar in status to the Cannes Film Festival, it just happens on another continent. Among all documentaries presented at the festival, three films received awards. Our film has one of them, “for the fight for human rights,” Liana Mytsko notes.
After the triumph in New York, the film goes on tour to many film festivals around the world. In Ukraine, the film “The Rule of Two Walls” is also planned to be presented this summer.
