They will carol in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: Hutsuls from Kryvorivna will collect donations for their carol at Frank’s manor in Naguyevychy

For the fifth year in a row, fans of the heritage of the Ivan Franko Manor Museum in Naguyevichi are invited to learn about the ancient traditions of Kryvorivna through the Hutsul carol.

So, on January 4 at 12:00 p.m., Hutsuls from Kryvorivna will carol carols in the conference hall of the “Naguyevychi” DIKZ with a charity mission in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by Bohdan Lazorak, director of the “Naguyevychi” DIKZ.

According to him, Naguyevychi and Kryvorivnia have been implementing a joint project for how many years in a row – “From the Ivan Franko Museum in Kryvorivnia to the Ivan Franko Museum in Naguyevychy.” All those present will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with Christmas traditions and hear a loud Hutsul carol.

Kryvyi Rih is considered the capital of Hutsul Oblast. Ivan Franko and Mykhailo Hrushevskyi once visited here, and the famous film director Serhiy Paradzhanov filmed “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors”. Many creative people have always come to Kryvyi Rih, and this mutual exchange influenced the fact that the place became the cultural center of the Hutsul region.

There are also nine corners in Kryvorivna, so there were traditionally 9 carol groups every year. In times of war, one group necessarily goes to carol to the east, to the military. Unfortunately, due to the war, the number of bands was reduced to 8 this year.

In Kryvorivna, every carol group must have its conductor (“birch”), violinist and trumpet player. They sing their carol and circle the church three times, creating a kind of Hutsul carol symphony. According to the Hutsul tradition, it is necessary to give the carolers something material. During the war, the funds withdrawn from the carols were directed to carol bands to support the Armed Forces.
