On October 10, the official opening of the Styrian Courtyard took place on the territory of the Faculty of Philology of Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University of Drohobych. The project was successfully implemented thanks to the financial support of the Federal Government of Styria (Austria).
For 15 years, Lviv Oblast has been a partner of the Federal Land of Styria, whose capital and largest city is Graz.
Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University Drohobych and, in particular, the University’s Austrian Library have made a lot of efforts to establish cooperation with Austria, thanks to which the Franko University has developed a close partnership with the Federal Government, the Pedagogical University and the City Hall of Graz.
At the opening ceremony, the rector of the Drohobytsk Pedagogical University, Valentina Bodak, noted that the opening of the Styrian Courtyard is another step that shows that the university is successfully working and implementing projects aimed at the development of its alma mater.
The official opening of the Austrian corner was also attended by Drohobych Mayor Taras Kuchma, Deputy Mayor for Humanitarian and Social Relations Yuriy Kushlyk, and Head of the Health Department of the DMR Volodymyr Chuba.
– I want to thank everyone who contributed to the establishment of cooperation and implementation of such a project in our city. I am glad to see our students today at this event, because only together with you can we develop Drohobych, which will be interesting for students and young people, commented Taras Kuchma.

The event was also attended by the deputy of the city council, the head of KP “Drohobychvodokanal” Roman Shagala and entrepreneur Andriy Vesely, who contributed financially to the arrangement of Styriyskyi Dvoryk.
– We have another tourist location in Drohobych, which is always open to visitors. Our city is becoming more interesting for people every year. I believe that this courtyard will become a kind of magnet for the youth and visitors of our city, where it will be possible to learn something new and be spiritually enriched. On behalf of the deputies, I want to thank Mr. Yaroslav Lopushanskyi for his ability to establish cooperation between Ukraine and Austria, said Roman Chagala.
Also, in the course of established cooperation, the Lviv Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater named after Yuriy Drohobych, as well as teachers and students of Drohobych University for the implementation of a project related to the development of higher education in the conditions of a pandemic and war.
