A press conference was held in the Lviv Region as part of the Lviv Sculpture Week

During the event, the participants told which sculptural projects residents of Lviv Oblast will be able to familiarize themselves with.

The day before, a press conference was held in Stryi Park near the sculpture “Confident” as part of the Lviv Sculpture Week 2023 project on the topic: “Old and new / New and old”.

The Lviv Sculpture Week is the largest sculptural event in the country. And this year, the Week will take place in more than 10 exhibition spaces, where more than 300 sculptures, objects and installations will be presented, including large-scale park and street sculpture projects between September 20 and October 11.

“Last year’s sculpture week drew a lot of positive feedback, and we couldn’t help but join this project, as it is very important to support culture now. Now everyone asks themselves the question “Is it important to invest in culture?” And what is culture for us first of all and what role does it play in the society of that time?”. It seems to me that now is the time to show our culture as it is now becoming, how it is transforming, how it is experiencing these events that are happening in the country. It is very important to show the whole world our identity, originality. And such expressions of our artists in sculptural art are very unique. And the fact that we went beyond the premises and brought this project to the public space is also an opportunity for a wide range of viewers to see the works of artists who are currently in the modern world”, – emphasized the director of the Department for Culture, Nationalities and Religions of the Lviv Oblast Iryna Havryliuk of the military administration.

“Last year’s exhibition was mounted under rocket fire, and it took place during the blackout period. But this did not prevent an unforgettable time for artists and the art-hungry mass audience. Even then, it was decided to continue the initiative and try to achieve consistent regularity in wartime conditions. This year, by involving a larger number of artists, museums, collectors, partners, audiences, we have the opportunity to reveal the theme of the interaction of the new and the old in the space of the main project, on the streets and in the parks of the city. In dialogue, juxtaposition or contradiction with the help of the universal language of sculpture and other types of spatial art – we talk about time, about the city, about myths, canons, form and meaning, peace and war”, – noted the curator of the Lviv Sculpture Week, the founder of the Ya Gallery art center Pavlo Gudimov.
