New Mural in Lviv Marks Invasion Anniversary and Symbolizes Bravery

On February 18, a new mural by the renowned Brno-based artist Timo appeared on the wall of the Stryi bus station in Lviv. On a white background, he wrote the word ‘deed,’ which became a symbol of action, courage, and resilience of Ukrainians during the war. The Lviv City Council notes that the mural emphasizes the strength of Ukrainians during these challenging times.

The idea of the work is that every deed has the power to change the world around us. A similar mural will also be created in Brno, where the word ‘deed’ will be translated into Czech as ‘skutek.’ According to Timo, a deed is a concept between theory and practice, always implying activity and concrete changes.

The bus station was chosen for the mural because of its special significance after the start of the full-scale invasion. The choice of location was assisted by the Institute of Culture Strategy (ICS). ICS director Julia Khomchyn mentioned the importance of stations as places of farewells and meetings during the war.

The management of the bus station supported the idea of creating the mural. It will not only beautify the city but also encourage people to think about their actions. Such international initiatives also contribute to promoting Lviv on the path to being named the ‘European Capital of Culture 2030.’
