Poems by Mykhailo Semenko performed by the actors of the Kafka Theatre
The actors of the Lviv Franz Kafka Theatre have released a new poetry album! This is the fourth such release by the theatre. Previously, the actors presented to the public the albums “Sad Poems”, “Poems about Love” and “Poems by Ivan Sokulsky“.
Here is what the theatre actor Nazariy Bodenko says about his project:
“Herman and I have been dreaming about this album for a long time. After all, Semenko is not just a poet, he is a whole universe. His futuristic poetry, although little known to the general public, has incredible power and depth.
When we were recording the album, we felt like real alchemists. We took Semenko’s words, added music, noise effects, our own emotions to them, and ended up with something completely new and experimental.”
Indeed, Mikhail Semenko is a bold experimenter. And the Kafka Theatre specialises in creative experiments and the search for a contemporary theatrical language. The Kafka Theatre’s latest YouTube projects introduce Ukrainian culture, including poetry.
“I believe that this album will find its listeners, that it will help to popularise Ukrainian culture, and most importantly, that it will preserve the memory of the talented poet Mykhailo Semenko,” adds Nazariy.
