The children’s book “Brave Tales” was presented for the first time in Lviv as part of the 30th BookForum International Literary Festival. This is a unique collection of 12 modern stories about the joint experience of Ukrainian families during the war. The book of fairy tales about friendship, support and solidarity, with author’s illustrations by the artist Georgy Sagitov, was published by the “ASSA” publishing house under the audio project of Public Broadcasting.
The author of the idea and co-author of the texts of the fairy tales Viktoriya Murovana, director of the ACCA publishing house Svitlana Feldman, psychologist Marianna Novakovska took part in the presentation, which took place in the Lviv Regional Library for Children. The meeting was moderated by Yuliya Dychuk, head of the children’s broadcasting editorial office of the Directorate of Digital Platforms of the Society.
“It’s amazing how children perceive our fairy tales – for them, they are simply understandable and interesting stories, not burdened with a sad context. We read them together, discuss them, and share our impressions. Our team is convinced that this is precisely the purpose of the project: to explain new realities truthfully and clearly, to create a safe space, to give space for imagination,” says Victoria Murovana, general producer of digital platforms of Public Broadcasting, author of the texts of “Brave Tales” and a member of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine Volya Foundation (UVF). During the presentation, children read excerpts of fairy tales.
“Seeing the enthusiastic eyes of children and the sincere gratitude of parents is the best feedback about the work of our team. And being close to and supporting Ukrainian families in different ways is our goal. That is why it is very important and valuable that now, in addition to podcasts, animation and other children’s formats, Ukrainians have the opportunity to read a children’s book from Suspilnoy,” emphasized Yuliya Dychuk, head of the children’s broadcast editorial department of the Directorate of Digital Platforms at Suspilnoi.
From October 18 to 22, “Brave Tales” will be presented at the Ukrainian stand at the Frankfurt Book Fair, and soon the book will be presented in Kyiv and Kharkiv. From November, the unique children’s edition will be available in Ukrainian bookstores.
“I can endlessly listen and watch how children read books. And even better — if they do it together with adults. Just such a miracle happened at the presentation of the book “Brave Tales” in Lviv. A book that people pick up and never let go of. After the start of pre-ordering, more than 100 books have already been purchased on the publisher’s website, and pre-ordering continues. In the coming week, the book will be presented at the stand of Ukraine in Frankfurt, at the largest book exhibition in Europe. We hope that children of other countries will be able to read these modern fairy tales about our life in these difficult times,” emphasized Svitlana Feldman, director of the ACCA publishing house.
You can pre-order the “Brave Tales” edition by October 19 via the link on the publishing house’s website.
