On March 15, on the occasion of the birthday of the artist, educator and visionary Oleksa Nowakiwsky, the Lviv Skansen will host the premiere of the film Friendly Conversations about Life, Art and Destiny. Ostap Lozynsky vs Oleksa Nowakiwsky”. Entrance to the event is free.
The film was born in memory of three passionate masters of their craft who were in love with Ukrainian art as a part of European art. Oleksa Novakivsky, Ostap and Taras Lozynsky sowed the seeds of Ukrainian cultural identity as an equal co-creator of European art and nurtured the tree of life and spirit as part of the vitality of the cultural capital of Ukraine.
This article is based on the materials of Ostap Lozynsky’s curatorial tour, which took place within the framework of the exhibition “The Eccentric Painter. Oleksa Novakivskyi and His School” in spring 2018. The film is complemented by a recording of Taras Lozynskyi’s last interview for the Novakivskyi Space project.
The film also uses excerpts from the project of narration of the novel “With a Spread of Mighty Wings” by such well-known Ukrainians as human rights activist and former UCU rector Myroslav Marynovych, diplomat and public figure Danylo Lubkivsky.
The project was initiated by Dzvenyslava Novakivska, the great-granddaughter of Oleksa Novakivsky, founder of the Novakivsky space project, and a coach of change leaders and their teams.
The film presentation and discussion will take place on March 15 at 17:00 in the Great Exhibition Hall of the Klymentiy Sheptytsky Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life (1 Chernecha Hora St.).
