A new call for applications from residents to participate in the Co-financing Programme for the Renovation of Historic Windows and Gates will be launched in Lviv on 1 September. Participants can apply if their house is located within the historic area of Lviv and is at least 80 years old.
“The new recruitment is open to those residents who submit applications through Lviv Administrative Service Centres from 1 to 15 September. We will accept new applications without any restrictions on the number and will include them in the list of restorations to be processed in the coming years,” said Stefaniia Topylko, director of the Heritage Bureau.
It should be noted that in the spring of this year, the Programme for co-financing the restoration of doors and windows in historic buildings was updated and extended until 2029. In particular, the terms of participation were clarified to make it more accessible and effective for residents of historic buildings. At the same time, the co-financing shares remained unchanged: 70% of the cost of restoring the gates is paid by the Lviv City Council through the coordinator, the Lviv Heritage Bureau, and 30% by residents. When restoring windows, co-financing is provided in the ratio of 60% to 40%, respectively. And in the case of replacing metal-plastic windows with wooden ones, the co-financing shares are 50% to 50%.
The co-financing programme for the restoration of gates and windows in residential buildings located in the historic area of Lviv has been in place since 2018. Since then, more than 200 gates and more than 150 windows have been restored in the buildings of the historic area. In addition, more than 20 more windows were replaced from plastic to wooden.
