Every year, the Round Table brings together young leaders and experts from various fields of activity to discuss current issues.
From November 2 to 4 in Lviv, within the walls of the “Patriarchy House” hotel, a three-day Youth Round Table took place on the theme: “There is no peace without justice. And what is she in?”, which was initiated by the pro-rector of UCU, founding member of the human rights Ukrainian Helsinki group, Soviet dissident and political prisoner Myroslav Marynovich.
At the invitation of Myroslav Frankovych, Vasyl Dorosh, head of the Department of Religions and Nationalities of the Department for Culture, Nationalities and Religions of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, took part in the Round Table.
Every year, the Round Table brings together young leaders and experts from various fields of activity to discuss current issues. This year, the Round Table brought together 19 participants, including representatives of the following structures: BO “Ukrainian Educational Platform”, NGO “Community Development Office”, National Scout Organization of Ukraine “Plast”, DEJURE Foundation, BF “Right to Defense”, NGO “Pro. World”, Expert company pro.mova, Institute of Religion and Society of the Ukrainian Catholic University, Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Lanka.pro, NGO “Nova Druzkivka”, Rukh “Chesno”, BO BF “Gurkit”, NGO “Face” of independence”, world-view system of enlightenment “Change Makers”, LLP “Lviv Bureau of European Integration”, Program “60 Minutes”.
During the event, the speakers covered the following topics for discussion:
– “How not to get lost in the thickets of partial justices?” – Myroslav Marynovych;
– “Just peace: legal challenges” – Svitlana Khilyuk, candidate of legal sciences, director of the law school, head of the department of theory of law and human rights, UCU;
– “Justice from the perspective of a serviceman” – Masi Nayem, military man and lawyer, co-founder of the “Princip” human rights center for military personnel;
– “Demographic crisis and problems of justice” – Yevhen Hlibovytskyi, expert on long-term strategies, publicist, founder of pro.mova;
– “The pursuit of justice as a prerequisite and a trap in overcoming the trauma of war” – Roman Kechur, Ukrainian psychiatrist, psychotherapist, candidate of medical sciences, head of the Department of Psychology and Psychotherapy of UCU.
The research topic was actualized by Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, which in itself is a flagrant violation of justice, and gave rise to a whole series of other painful and tragic injustices.
The organizer of the already traditional Youth Round Table is the UCU Institute of Leadership and Management, which works in cooperation with the UCU Institute of Religion and Society. The project was implemented with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation.
