An information and education centre with a shelter for 200 people opened in Shevchenkivskyi Hai in Lviv

Today, the Klymentii Sheptytskyi Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life in Lviv, popularly known as Shevchenkivskyi Hai, opened a new space – an information and education centre.

The centre is fully adapted for people with different needs and has a large modern shelter.

The Lviv Skansen Information and Education Centre is the place that will welcome visitors to the museum, as it has a modern ticket office and information desk. There is also a children’s educational space, conference rooms for events, a café and a museum shop.

“We have a very cool space, we are opening not only the building, but the whole area, because when you come here, you discover something that was not there before. These are new accessible paths, new facilities, a mother and child room, a children’s educational space, new accessible toilets for people with disabilities. And a new large accessible shelter is very important for us, because we live in a time of war, and this shelter is one of the good reasons why this project was necessary for us,” said Mykhailo Zakopets, director of the museum.

In particular, the shelter has an area of more than 130 square metres, and in case of emergency, it can shelter about 200 people.

The building is inclusive and barrier-free, with ramps and paths for wheelchair users, a toilet for people with limited mobility, a lowered checkout counter, and a baby care room. The total area of the centre is over 1000 sq m.

In addition to the opening of the space, visitors had the opportunity to join guided tours of the museum, visit ongoing exhibitions and pottery workshops. The day will end with a singing performance by Ulyana Gorbachevska, a singer and researcher of authentic Ukrainian songs and spiritual singing.

By the way, the old entrance will also be used: first of all, for official purposes, as well as on days of large influx of visitors.
