The memory of Osyp Makovey was honored in Yavorov

On August 23, Osyp Makovey, a prominent compatriot of the Yavorov region, was commemorated in the Museum-manor of Osip Makovey in the city of Yavorov, on the occasion of his 156th birthday.

The event was attended by the chief of staff of Yavorivska VA Ira Kravchuk, the head of the Department of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports of the Yavoriv City Council Bohdan Radelytskyi, servicemen of the 24th OMBr named after King Danylo and residents of the community. The collective of Yavorivsk Gymnasium named after Osip Makovey and the Department of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports of Yavoriv City Council organized an incredible literary and artistic holiday. School pupils recited poems, teachers sang songs. People’s amateur theater “Yavoryna” directed by Oksana Kvas and the director of the T. Podlisnyi People’s Amateur Theater Hanna Tarnovska also performed for those present.

Osyp Makovei was born on August 23, 1867 in the town of Yavoriv, Lviv region, in the family of a peasant. After elementary school, he studied at the Ukrainian gymnasium in Lviv, and then at the philosophy faculty of Lviv University.
