An exhibition of ancient Luchytsk embroidery is underway in Lviv. Video

On 12 February, it was opened an exhibition of ancient embroidery from the village of Luchytsi, Sokal district

“This embroidery is not just embroidery, but our nation-building component, reflecting the continuity of history, the fate of people, families, and Ukraine. It reflects the resilience and courage of our ancestors, their desire for independence and preservation of the memory of their family.

The exhibition features many items depicting national symbols that were created and preserved despite oppression and persecution. The exhibition will be of particular interest to those who are discovering or restoring their identity and cherishing their roots.

You will have a unique opportunity to see 134 exhibits – embroidered shirts and dresses, camisoles and spare parts, towels and other items of clothing and household items, old photographs and family stories.

The collection was collected and provided for the exhibition by Svitlana Olesko, the head of the People’s House of Luchytsi village. The exhibits also include items from the family collections of Iryna Demchuk and Halyna Zabavska.

The exhibition was organised and curated by Halyna Zabavska.
