The exhibition of Sokal embroidery can be visited in Lviv

The exhibition features many embroidered products from the family collection of the head library of Bohdana Klymchuk. Some embroidered clothes were given by fellow villagers, and some were saved.

The exhibition will last until October 5 in the Frank House.

Sokal embroidery is one of the unique elements of Ukrainian embroidery. The story of its origin dates back to ancient times, and its study is simply incredible discoveries every day.

The folk art of the Sokal region is original and original. This can be seen in fabrics, clothes, and embroidery. Canvases were made from linen, hemp and sometimes mixed. For festive shirts, the cloth should be thin from linen, and for everyday clothes – coarse from hemp. As mentioned by Bronislav Sokalskyi, the author of the book “Povit Sokalskyi”, the embroidery of the people of Sokal is geometric, with a small pattern, black or red colors, or both together, sometimes with the addition of yellow.
