The exhibition will last until August 19.
Yesterday, August 14, on the day of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the well-known Ukrainian painter, graphic designer and teacher, artistic innovator Karl Zvirynskyi, within the framework of the Fifth Lviv Photo Festivals in the “Art Memorial Museum of Olena Kulchytska” department of the National Museum in Lviv named after A. Sheptytskyi (7 Listopadovoy Chinu str., 2nd floor) opened an exhibition of the artist’s photos.
The director of the Department for Culture, Nationalities and Religions of LOVA Iryna Havryliuk took part in the opening of the exhibition.
At the exhibition, a little-known layer of Karl Zvirynskyi’s artistic heritage was presented: an artistic photograph that reveals another facet of his gift. The artist’s daughter Khrystyna Zvirynska-Chaban gave the photos for the exhibition.
Hutsulshchyna is a cult region for artists, where more than one generation of figures of Ukrainian culture sought inspiration. Eternity and originality, purity and beauty of the ancient earth created by God are the motifs of Karl Zvirynskyi’s artistic photographs.
Karlo Zvirynskyi (1923 – 1997) – painter, icon painter, teacher. His work has already become a classic of modern art and represents innovative ideological searches in the context of phenomena and processes that took place in the Lviv artistic environment. “He not only resisted the system, but tried to support his colleagues and students, giving them food for their dignity,” Bishop Borys Hudziak noted.
