A gynecological office with barrier-free access for women with inclusion has been operating in the Drohobytsk city polyclinic for a year now

A year ago, a gynecological office with barrier-free access for people with limited mobility became functional in the Drohobytsk city polyclinic. In this way, women with inclusion of different ages can use the services of gynecologists.

First of all, this applies to women who move on crutches or in wheelchairs, have musculoskeletal disorders and other diseases. The barrier-free office makes it possible to drive into it with a wheelchair, and with the help of a hydraulic lift, a woman with limited mobility can climb into the examination chair.

In general, the barrier-free gynecological office is equipped with everything necessary for examination and providing quality medical consultations to all classes of women, especially with inclusion, namely: a mobile gynecological chair, a lift with hydraulics and a fixator for women with disabilities, a couch, walkers, handrails for fixation , as well as a monoblock, where you can download and save all the necessary information and statistics related to the work of the office and consulted patients.

According to Yulia Goncharenko, head of the “Drohobytsk City Polyclinic” KNP, during the year of operation, the barrier-free access office provided high-quality gynecological services and provided them to 2,235 people, including 67 women with disabilities and musculoskeletal disorders, 306 IDPs. Out of this total number of patients, 1,501 women, urban residents and 734 rural women, 1,655 women of reproductive age, used the office’s services.

The barrier-free access office provides services to all categories of the female population – pregnant women, gynecological patients, women who need counseling on family planning issues, HIV, unwanted pregnancy and in cases of gender-based violence. The priority, of course, is the provision of services to women with disabilities and musculoskeletal disorders. I also want to note that Drohobytsk City Polyclinic has changed significantly in recent years – we pay close attention to people with inclusion and reduced mobility. So, taking this into account, an external elevator was installed in the polyclinic department, which helps people with disabilities to get to the right floor. In addition, the polyclinic has elevators between floors for people with inclusion and in wheelchairs. For the convenience of people with visual impairments, the inscriptions of offices and floor numbers have been duplicated in Braille, Yuliya Goncharenko comments.

In addition, the opening of a barrier-free gynecological office was made possible thanks to the cooperation of the “Drohobytsk City Polyclinic” KNP with the BF “Women’s Health and Family Planning” with the support of UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund and the United Nations Partnership for the Protection of the Rights of People with Disabilities. It was thanks to the cooperation with the BF “Women’s Health and Family Planning” that the gynecological office was able to purchase all the necessary equipment and furniture.
