The founder of the program “Let’s get busy with the text”, Nataliya Misyuk from Crimea, told how she switched to the Ukrainian language

The goal of the “Ukrainian We Will Succeed” project is to popularize the Ukrainian language, to motivate Ukrainians to switch to the Ukrainian language of communication.

As part of the Comprehensive Program for Strengthening the State-Building Consolidation Role of the Ukrainian Language in the Lviv Region for 2023-2026, which was approved by the Lviv Regional Government in February this year, a new television project #УКРАЇНСКОЮ_ЗДОЛАЄМО is underway. It is implemented by the Department of Communications and Internal Policy of LOVA and the TV channel “NTA”. The first issue of the project was released in August, and since then Yuliya Slivka, Andrii Shymanovskyi, Maria Burmaka and other famous people have become its participants.

The format of the project involves 10 short interviews with famous people who switched to Ukrainian after the full-scale invasion or before; who can be an authority; whose story will be interesting and convincing for people who have not yet switched to the Ukrainian language of communication.

In the next edition of the program, the founder of the project “Let’s do the text”, the popularizer of the Ukrainian language, Nataliya Misiuk, talks about life in Crimea and moving to Lviv, about how she switched to Ukrainian and why she decided to create her project about the text. Natalia was born, grew up and lived until 2014 in Crimea. There, like everyone else, she spoke Russian.

“Of course, we studied Ukrainian at school. There were different teachers, but, for sure, it was mostly because of coercion, and we didn’t like Ukrainian language and literature lessons at school,” Nataliya said.

“The study must have been difficult at times, because not always, but certain people bite when you say something imperfect. This is very unpleasant. It distracts from speech and it can sometimes spoil the mood for the whole day. And that’s why in my social networks and in everything I do, I encourage people to encourage each other and try not to correct others, unless this is your profession,” said the guest of the project.
