“We are completely on the side of Ukraine, and therefore on the side of justice”: Israeli Minister of Health during a visit to Lviv region

On April 5, Israeli Health Minister Nitsan Horowitz visited one of the field hospitals in the Lviv region, which was recently opened by Israeli specialists.

The Minister expressed his support for Ukraine and assured Israel of its readiness to help Ukrainians, in particular in terms of rehabilitation and provision of medical equipment and medicines.

“Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Israel has been completely on the side of Ukraine, which means on the side of justice. Our doctors felt their duty to help people, so it was here in Ukraine that a field hospital was set up. At the same time, we are ready to receive the wounded. I cannot fail to mention the trials that Ukrainians face every day, the atrocities they commit against the civilian population. The tragedy in Bucha shocked Israel. Today, more than ever, we must support Ukraine in every way we can, “said the Israeli Minister of Health.

During the visit, Nitsan Horowitz met with Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Oleksiy Yaremenko and inquired about the needs of the industry, given the country’s martial law.

“Since the beginning of the war, hundreds of hospitals in Ukraine have either been completely destroyed or partially damaged. Most of them attack the enemy purposefully. Terrible example with a maternity hospital in Mariupol. The wounded cannot take full advantage of medical care, as the enemy is constantly attacking medical teams. The occupiers are also shelling humanitarian corridors. The health care system needs medication, particularly for surgery. Quantity – unlimited. More specifically, Ukraine needs armored ambulances, body armor and helmets for our doctors. Among the equipment: mobile X-rays, first-aid kits of NATO standard, VAC-systems, “Oleksiy Yaremenko stressed.

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has already prepared a list of essentials, which will be handed over to Israeli partners.

In turn, the chairman of the Committee on Health of the Nation Mykhailo Radutsky, to the concern of the Israeli Minister of Health, named the reasons why Ukraine should win.

“First, our army is fighting for its own land. Over the past 8 years, Ukraine has learned to defend its right to independence. Secondly, we have the military support of Europe and the United States. Third, everyone must remember that when Ukraine falls, the whole civilized world will fall. And most importantly, fourthly, given the views of Ukrainian defenders who are liberating cities from the occupiers, they cannot afford not to fight and not to defend, “Mykhailo Radutsky said.

Maksym Kozytskyi, the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration, also visited the field hospital.

“In many settlements of Ukraine, people simply have no food, no supplies of medicines, no communication. This is what the “Russian peace” brought with it. From the Lviv region we send humanitarian aid every day to the regions where it is possible to deliver aid. Can we say that this is enough? No, because the war continues. I thank all the partners who are now helping Ukraine and at the same time call on countries and international organizations to support our defenders, our displaced persons and our refugees. This is your contribution to the development of a new civilized society, “the head of the region emphasized.
