The European flag was symbolically raised by the mayor of the Croatian city of Pula-Pola, Filip Zorichic, who came to Lviv. Musical accompaniment was provided by the “Lviv Fanfare” brass band, which recently returned from one of the largest festivals in Europe.

“An office was opened in Brussels, the mayor from Croatia came, an agreement on cooperation between our cities was signed, the European flag was raised in Lviv, and that’s all in one day, on Europe Day,” said Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy.

“This trip is very emotional for us. Today we are talking about the day of the future: we have already brought home the first group of Ukrainian children whose parents died in the war. We also have a program for the socialization and rehabilitation of your military personnel. We are on your side, because you are Europe,” Pula-Pula mayor Filip Zorichic concluded.

The national anthem of Ukraine, “Ode to Joy” and the song “Chervon Kalina” were performed by the brass band of the Lviv Children’s School of Arts No. 5 “Lviv Fanfare”, which recently returned from one of the largest festivals of military brass bands in Europe, the Hamburg Tattoo. In two weeks, the team will go to another festival in France.

We will remind you that today, May 9, Ukraine celebrates Europe Day for the first time with the countries of the European continent. Europe Day is a celebration of peace and unity throughout the European continent. On the occasion of the celebration, the flag of the European Union was raised alongside the Ukrainian flag in front of the Town Hall on Rynok Square.
