Valentyn Hershtoh, the head of the ‘Nadiya’ mine union, addressed the city council deputies with an important request. During the session, he asked to direct an appeal to the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Halushchenko. The main demand was to ensure the retention of jobs and to conduct additional surveys of coal reserves.
Hershtoh emphasized that according to estimates, the coal deposits of the ‘Nadiya’ mine have the potential for 5-7 more years of extraction, estimating their quantity at 620,000 tons. He pointed out the significant contribution of the mine to the local budget, reminding that in 2024, tax contributions amounted to over 16 million UAH. The concluding emphasis on the importance of the initiative was reinforced by the speech of Deputy Dmytro Darenko, who officially voiced a corresponding appeal to the Ministry of Energy.
