Lviv region was the first in Ukraine to introduce cashless payment in all suburban and intercity bus routes.
Today, November 30, the full launch of the contactless fare payment system in regional public transport took place.
“In a little more than a year, we implemented a really important project for us, for carriers, and for passengers. We are the first region in Ukraine, where from now on every route in suburban and intercity buses, validators are installed, which make it possible to pay in cashless form. In this way, we continue to move towards a transparent market and payment of taxes, the ability to predict routes and understand passenger traffic, correct pricing, ease of calculation and comprehensibility of the tariff, dispatching, ensuring the required number of buses on the route, etc. This is another step towards modern transportation and high-quality service,” emphasized Maksym Kozytskyi, head of Lviv OVA.
The head of the region emphasized that the project was implemented entirely at the expense of the investor, which is approximately UAH 40 million. The issue of fare control will also be closed by the investor. He undertook to implement the program of preferential transportation over time.
“You can talk for years about the introduction of an e-ticket in Lviv, take almost 7 million euros in loans, which people living in the city will then have to pay back, and still not do it. And it is possible to attract a private investor who will introduce a system of cashless payment for travel in more than a thousand suburban and intercity buses throughout the region and will do it in a year.
No budget funds were spent on the introduction of e-tickets in buses plying in the Lviv Region. The investor also assumes the function of control on the routes, that is, the budget funds will not go to the maintenance of additional employees.
And without any plastic cards for 60 hryvnias.
This is modern project implementation and investment in a warring state, if you take responsibility for your own people. Thank you to Smart-Ticket Technology for implementing the project and partnership,” added Maksym Kozytskyi.
