Under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the head of the response sector of the patrol police of one of the police departments of the State Police in the Lviv Region was informed of the suspicion of extortion and receipt of illegal benefits (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the law enforcement officer demanded and received USD 1,300 from the citizen for not bringing him to administrative responsibility.
A resident of one of the villages of the Lviv Oblast was deprived of the right to drive vehicles by a court decision.
For $300 per month, the official promised to “close his eyes” to the fact that the latter would drive within one of the districts of the Lviv region.
The police detained the suspect in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is carried out by the investigators of the TU DBR located in the city of Lviv.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
