Under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a resident of Lviv Region was exposed and detained for organizing a scheme of illegal transportation of conscripts across the state border during martial law (Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the citizen promised to produce and provide fictitious documents about studying at universities in the Republic of Poland for a monetary reward of 10 thousand US dollars. Based on the documents received, conscripts were able to cross the border without hindrance through official checkpoints.
The defendant was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine after receiving the full amount from one of those wishing to leave Ukraine illegally.
The issue of notifying the detainee of the suspicion and choosing a measure of restraint is being resolved. Other persons involved in illegal activities are identified.
The operation to expose was carried out by prosecutors together with the staff of the Investigative Department of the State National Security Service in Lviv Oblast and the Security Service of Ukraine in Lviv Oblast.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proved in law and established by a court conviction.
