In Lviv, an organized group received 12 million hryvnias of profit every month from the sale of narcotics and psychotropic substances

Under the procedural leadership of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the pre-trial investigation was completed and the indictment against 5 members of the organized group was sent to the court. Its participants are charged with illegal acquisition, storage, transportation and manufacture of psychotropic substances (Part 3 of Article 311 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). And two of them are charged with smuggling precursors and illegal acquisition, storage and sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (Part 3 of Article 305, Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that an organized group, which included 5 residents of Lviv Oblast, established a system of selling psychotropic drugs and narcotics on the territory of Ukraine.

For this, one of the group’s co-members smuggled pills from Poland that contained pseudoephedrine. Later, in a rented apartment located on one of the streets of Lviv, “pure” pseudoephedrine was evaporated from them using a special method. The latter was sent to Dnipro, to be processed into a psychotropic substance and further sold.

In addition, the defendants purchased cocaine and MDMA for the purpose of selling to drug addicts.

The “goods” were sold on the territory of Ukraine with the help of postal shipments.

The estimated amount of monthly profit from such a “business” reached about UAH 12 million.

According to the results of the conducted searches, narcotic drugs, precursors, cash, accessories for the manufacture and packaging of psychotropic substances and other things were found and seized from the accused.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the SBU Department in the Lviv region, under the operational support of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Lviv region of the SSR of the National Police of Ukraine.

Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
