LPR militant, who fought in ‘Storm’ battalion, sentenced to 15 years in Lviv

Following a public prosecution by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a citizen of Ukraine was found guilty of high treason, participation in a terrorist organization and activities of armed groups not provided for by law (Article 111(2), Article 258-3(1), Article 260(2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

He was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The prosecutor proved in court that the resident of Luhansk region voluntarily went over to the enemy in 2022. He joined the illegal armed formation “People’s Militia” of the so-called “LPR” terrorist organization. The man served in the 6th separate motorized rifle Cossack regiment, which is part of the 2nd army corps of the Russian Federation troops, as a rifleman.

The convict performed the duties of a guard service to protect the territory and observe the military personnel and military equipment of the AFU.

In April 2023, he was transferred to the Storm battalion of the same regiment, where he equipped and strengthened the firing positions of the Russian army for combat, dug trenches, built dugouts, kept watch and directly participated in hostilities.

The man fought in the settlements of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

He was detained by the Ukrainian Defense Forces in Bakhmut district, Donetsk region.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the SBU Office in Lviv region.
