A 17-year-old man from Lviv cheated people out of money by selling non-existent puppies

The suspect of fraud, a 17-year-old man from Lviv, was exposed by the investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2, together with the operatives of the Office for Countering Cybercrimes in the Lviv Region, under the procedural guidance of the Frankiv District Prosecutor’s Office.

As the law enforcement officers established, the perpetrator created and administered a website on the Internet, where he posted ads for the sale of puppies of the popular “Corgi” breed, although he did not have any dogs available. The guy received money from customers as a deposit, after which he stopped communicating with them, and appropriated the money.

The police documented four facts of the perpetrator’s fraudulent activity. Investigators of the territorial division of the police informed him of the suspicion of committing crimes under Part 1, Part 2 of Article 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty that threatens the suspect is imprisonment for a term of up to three years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
