A 17-year-old resident of Novoyavorivsk deceived buyers on the Internet – he received a subscription and did not send the goods

In the Lviv region, law enforcement officers informed a minor about suspicion of fraud during “trading” on the Internet

The suspect, a 17-year-old resident of the city of Novoyavorivsk, was exposed by the operatives of the Cybercrime Countermeasures Office in the Lviv Region together with the investigators of the Yavoriv District Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the Yavoriv District Prosecutor’s Office.

As the law enforcement officers established, the attacker created a page in one of the social networks on which he posted an advertisement for the sale of gift boxes, although in fact he did not have the product in stock. Instead, he received money from customers as a subscription for goods, which he later appropriated and stopped communicating with customers.

Law enforcement officers documented the fact of the fraudster’s illegal activity, as a result of which one of his clients suffered losses in the amount of more than a thousand hryvnias when she tried to purchase a gift box from a well-known manufacturer.

The investigators informed the intruder of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Article 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – a fine of four thousand to eight thousand tax-free minimum incomes of citizens or deprivation of liberty for a period of three to five years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
