An 18-year-old student from Sokal is suspected of creating fake e-passports with personal data of citizens who sold goods on one of the Internet resources

In Lviv, law enforcement officers informed students of suspicion of fraud, forgery of documents and interference with the work of automated systems

The perpetrators, an 18-year-old resident of the city of Sokal and his same age, a resident of the Ternopil region, were exposed by investigators of the Police Department No. 2 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 together with the operatives of the Cybercrime Countermeasures Office in the Lviv Region, under the procedural guidance of the Frankiv District Prosecutor’s Office of the City of Lviv.

As the law enforcement officers established, a resident of Sokal, using a fake mobile application of the “Diya” program, created fake e-passports with personal data of citizens who sold goods on one of the Internet resources and fraudulently took possession of a batch of electronic cigarettes by presenting a forged electronic document at the post office. In the future, using the same scheme, the perpetrator, involving an accomplice – a resident of Ternopil Oblast, tried to take possession of an Apple tablet sold by another citizen, but they were exposed by law enforcement officers.

A resident of Sokal was informed by the investigators of the territorial division of the police that he was suspected of having committed the crimes provided for in Part 1, 3, 4 of Article 358 (Forgery of documents, seals, stamps and forms, sale or use of forged documents, seals, stamps) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. part 1 of article 361 (Unauthorized interference in the work of information (automated), electronic communication, information and communication systems, electronic communication networks) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, part 2 of article 15-part 3 of article 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and Part 3 of Article 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The other perpetrator was notified of the suspicion of committing the crimes provided for in part 3, 4 of article 358 (Forgery of documents, seals, stamps and forms, sale or use of forged documents, seals, stamps) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and part 3 of article 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The maximum penalty provided by the sanctions of the articles is imprisonment for a term of up to eight years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
