A 24-year-old resident of Ternopil will be tried for transporting a conscript in the trunk of a car across the border in Lviv Oblast

Made a hiding place in the trunk of a car for the crossing of a conscript abroad

The prosecutors of the Yavoriv District Prosecutor’s Office completed the pre-trial investigation and sent an indictment to the court against a 24-year-old resident of Ternopil for organizing the illegal transfer of a person across the state border of Ukraine (Part 1 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that in April 2023, at one of the checkpoints of the Lviv region, the driver of the vehicle tried to illegally transport a conscripted man abroad.

To avoid customs control, the man instructed one of the passengers to hide in the luggage compartment of the car. When crossing the border, the accused gave false information to the border guard about the number of passengers in the vehicle.

However, during his inspection, the employees of the State Border Service of Ukraine discovered and detained the fugitive.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the Yavorivskyi Regional State Administration of the State of Ukraine in the Lviv region.

Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
