A 24-year-old man from Lviv kidnapped a person and demanded 1 thousand US dollars

The 24-year-old man from Lviv was informed of the suspicion under the procedural guidance of the Pustomytov District Prosecutor’s Office. He is charged with illegal deprivation of liberty and extortion (Part 2 of Article 146, Part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the suspect detained the 34-year-old man and demanded $1,000 for allegedly damaging the vehicle.

Threatening physical violence, he locked the victim in the interior of the minibus. Later, he ordered the latter’s comrades to bring the funds within an hour.

On the same day, the suspect was detained while handing over the money.

At the prosecutor’s request, the court chose him as an alternative preventive measure – detention.

Currently, measures are being taken to expose other persons involved in the crime.

The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of police department No. 3 of Lviv district police department No. 2 of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region.

Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
