29-Year-Old Driver Under Influence Detained After Accident in Sheptytskyi District

A road traffic accident occurred on December 22 at around 4:00 PM on the Sheptytskyi–Rava-Ruska highway in the Sheptytskyi District of Lviv region.

According to preliminary police reports, a 29-year-old local resident driving a Toyota lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road and overturned in a ditch. The driver and two passengers, aged 35 and 27, sustained injuries as a result.

It was established that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. A court will soon decide on preventive measures.

The Sheptytskyi District Police Department has launched criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for up to three years of imprisonment. Additionally, the driver may face a three- to five-year driving ban.

An investigation is ongoing as law enforcement works to determine the circumstances of the incident.
