Resident of Morshyn sentenced to 3 years behind bars for evading mobilisation

Following a public prosecution by prosecutors of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, a 40-year-old resident of Morshyn was found guilty of evading military service during mobilisation (Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

He was sentenced to 3 years in prison.

The prosecutor proved in court that in September last year, the defendant was in the territorial centre for recruitment and social support, where he underwent a military medical examination. The commission found him medically fit for military service.

Accordingly, at the same time, the defendant was handed a military call-up, according to which he had to report to a military unit.

However, the man failed to report to the recruiting station for service in the designated military unit without a valid reason, thus violating the requirements of the current legislation and evading military conscription.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Stryi Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.

The court verdict will come into force after the expiration of the appeal period.
