Lviv region police detain offender for $8,000 for booking military service
A 35-year-old suspect promised a Lviv resident to help her friend with reservations for mobilisation for martial law service. He estimated his services at $8,000. The offender faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
Investigators of the General Criminal Investigation Department of the Lviv Police Investigation Department, operatives of the SBU Office in Lviv region, under the procedural supervision of the Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office in the Western Region, were involved in the investigation.
It has been established that the serviceman extorted the specified amount from the “client”, promising to influence officials of one of the territorial recruitment and social support centres to make a decision on the reservation of her acquaintance from mobilisation under martial law. The offender was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after receiving USD 8 thousand from the “client”.
The offender was served a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence stipulated by Part 3 Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (trading in influence). The article provides for imprisonment for up to eight years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the suspect.
