A 36-year-old man from Lviv region organized the smuggling of men across the state border for $8 thousand

Under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a 36-year-old man was served a notice of suspicion. He is charged with illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine (Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the suspect assisted in the illegal crossing of people across the state border of Ukraine to the Republic of Poland during the martial law.

For this purpose, in exchange for a monetary reward, he promised a man of military age to produce documents giving grounds for leaving Ukraine. In particular, the suspect had to provide a package of fictitious medical documents confirming that he had a disease. The latter were supposed to be the basis for removing him from the military register.

Subsequently, this allowed him to travel abroad without hindrance.

The price of this service was $8,000 per package of documents.

The investigation is ongoing. All persons involved are being identified.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, based on the materials of the SBU Office in Lviv region.

Note: According to Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
