As the employees of the Zolochiv district police department established, the suspect brutally beat the woman and left her unconscious in the house. In a few days, the victim died in the hospital. The detainee faces up to ten years in prison for the crime.
On April 18, the operative line 102 received a report about a 60-year-old resident of one of the villages of the Zolochiv district, who was taken to one of the Lviv hospitals with serious injuries, in particular, an open craniocerebral injury.
Employees of the Zolochiv district police department were involved in establishing the circumstances of the crime and the identity of the perpetrator. The law enforcement officers conducted a complex of operative and investigative measures and found out that the woman was injured by her 38-year-old fellow villager. On the night of April 17, he went to visit a neighbor and during a domestic conflict punched her several times in the face. When the hostess lost consciousness, the man fled from the scene.
The next day, April 18, the beaten woman was found in the house by her daughter, who called the emergency doctors to the scene.
On the same day, the police detained the perpetrator in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the investigators of the territorial division of the police informed him of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 1 of Article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
However, despite the efforts of doctors, on April 24, the beaten woman died of her injuries. Under the procedural guidance of the Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office, the criminal offense was reclassified to Part 2 of Article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm that caused the death of the victim) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For the crime committed, the suspect faces a penalty of seven to ten years of imprisonment.
The court chose a preventive measure for the perpetrator – detention.
