Criminal Proceedings Against a Resident of Stryi
The Lviv regional prosecutor’s office has submitted an indictment to the court against a 39-year-old resident of Stryi, accused of smuggling and financial fraud. The man is charged with crimes related to the illegal transportation of cars from the European Union between 2023 and 2024.
Details of the Criminal Scheme
According to the investigative materials, the accused used documentation from charitable organizations to arrange the smuggling of cars. Forged documents were presented at customs, indicating that the vehicles were imported as humanitarian aid, exempt from customs duties, excise, and VAT.
- The scheme allowed for the illegal import of 8 cars into Ukraine.
- Of these, three were sold for cash to third parties.
- Five unlawfully imported vehicles were detained and seized during investigative actions.
The case was investigated by detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in Lviv region.
