LVIV REGION: BORDER GUARDS EXPOSE OFFENDER WHO ORGANIZED ILLEGAL WEDDING BUSINESS
Operational officers of the Lviv Border Guard Detachment together with law enforcement officers exposed our countrywoman who organized a channel for the illegal transfer of men liable for military service abroad by means of marriage.
According to law enforcement, the 52-year-old resident of Lviv region, who has a disability group, organized illegal transfer services for men of military age.
To realize her plan, the offender offered to marry her “client” for a monetary reward of USD 10,000.
Later, the pseudo-groom was to cross the border as an escort of a person with a disability. The organizer of the illegal scheme was detained by law enforcement officers after she received a part of the money tranche.
The police investigators served the suspect a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 3 of Art. 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to nine years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by border guards of the operational and investigative unit of the Lviv Border Guard Detachment, officers of the Migration Police Department and investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region under the supervision of the Lviv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Western Region.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
