It was established that the accused, a 59-year-old resident of the Lviv district, purchased the necessary equipment via the internet, which he later used to manufacture a psychotropic substance and packaged it into zip-lock bags for distribution.
During authorized searches at the residence of the criminal, law enforcement officers discovered and seized the psychotropic substance amphetamine, as well as equipment for its production: glassware, scales, a blender, plastic canisters, zip-lock bags, and flasks, which the accused had stored in the kitchen and garage premises.
The culprit was exposed by operatives of the Drug Crime Fighting Department in the Lviv Region in collaboration with investigators from police division №3 of Lviv District Police Department №2 under the procedural direction of the Pustomyty District Prosecutor’s Office.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings, opened under part 1 of Article 307 (Illegal manufacture, production, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotics, psychotropic substances or their analogs) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and part 1 of Article 313 (Theft, appropriation, extortion of equipment intended for the manufacture of narcotics, psychotropic substances or their analogs, or seizure thereof by means of fraud or abuse of office, and other illegal acts with such equipment) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, has been completed. The indictment has been sent to court for consideration.
The maximum punishment provided by the articles’ sanctions is imprisonment for up to eight years.
