A 64-year-old deputy from the Lviv district is suspected of fraud – he illegally obtained two hectares of land

As the law enforcement officers established, the suspect submitted false information and illegally obtained ownership of a two-hectare plot of land for personal farming. The amount of damage caused to the state is more than two million hryvnias.

The perpetrator, a 64-year-old resident of the Lviv district, was exposed by the operatives of the department for the protection of public and state interests together with the investigators of the department of investigation of crimes in the field of economic and official activities of the investigative department of the police of the Lviv region, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv regional prosecutor’s office.

As the law enforcement officers established, in 2021, as a deputy of one of the local councils of the Lviv region, the person in question submitted an application for the registration of ownership of a two-hectare plot of land for the management of a personal peasant farm, in which he entered false information, in particular, he did not indicate that he had already exercised his right to obtain free ownership of a land plot with the same purpose.

In this way, the intruder illegally took possession of a plot of land, the value of which is estimated at more than two million hryvnias.

The investigators informed the intruder about the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 4 of Article 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article envisages punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to twelve years with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
