A 35-year-old man will spend 7 years behind bars for robbery on the central street of Lviv

Following a public prosecution by prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the Court of Appeal upheld the verdict of the first instance court. The latter ruling found the 35-year-old man guilty of robbery (Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

He was sentenced to 7 years in prison.

Prosecutors proved in court that in September 2023, a man stole a bag with money and a phone on one of the central streets of Lviv.

In the evening, the convict approached a 62-year-old man standing near his car and asked for a cigarette. The latter refused and a conflict arose between them, which escalated into a fight. During the fight, the convict tore off the victim’s shoulder a purse containing the above items, pushed him and fled with the stolen goods.

The defendant’s lawyer filed an appeal, in which he asked for a reduced sentence.

However, the court agreed with the arguments of the regional prosecutors and dismissed the defence’s appeal.
