The prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office sent indictments to the court against the company’s director and chief engineer. They are charged with embezzlement of budget funds and official forgery by a group of persons (Part 5 of Article 191, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
It was established that in 2021, a contract was concluded between the Lviv Regional State Administration and a private enterprise for the construction of tourist infrastructure in the territory of Lviv Oblast. We are talking about work at the VeloBeskydy facility.
According to the terms of the contract, the company had to equip cycling and hiking-trekking routes, sports cycling tracks and an observation tower.
In the future, in order to seize budget funds, the contractor provided forged acts of completed works and certificates of their cost. In the latter, works that were not fully completed were indicated. The chief engineer of the company was responsible for the organization of works at the facility.
On the basis of forged documents, over 800,000 hryvnias were unjustifiably transferred from the budget to the business entity.
For reference, we note that within the framework of the criminal proceedings, a lawsuit was sent to the court to recover the damage caused from the defendants. Arrests were also imposed on their property.
The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings was carried out by investigators of the investigative department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region under the operational support of the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
